Oh, Snap!

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified: do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. —Joshua  1:9 (NIV)

In reading the paper yesterday, I ran across an article about a new television series that started last night called The Magicians. This is a series that comes from a book of the same name that that I’ve heard described as “Harry Potter for adults.” Down in the body of the article the author says, “But at the end of that first episode is an Oh, snap! moment.” I smiled to myself because I haven’t heard that phrase in quite a while, and I think that it just says it all. Oh, snap! Like when something happens to command our attention and we were not expecting it. When I read that phrase again, I realized that we, as believers, have so many glorious Oh, snap! moments in our lives as we know the power of Jesus. As the days go by, so many times we get to be part of an Oh, snap! moment as we see our Lord working mightily on our behalf or the behalf of others. Or it could be something as simple as simple as finding God in the everyday, seeing his glory in a beautiful rose blooming or a gorgeous butterfly in flight on gossamer wings. We thank God for these instant and awakening times when we know that he is here, reminding us that he is always here. And that in itself is the biggest OH, SNAP! moment there is!
