Same Trip, Different Perspective

He tends his flock like a shepherd; he gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart. —Isaiah 40:11 (NIV)

While walking today, I passed by the cutest young dad walking with his eight-month-old son strapped to the front of his chest in a baby carrier. It immediately struck me as I passed him that this experience that his young child was sharing with his father is exactly the experience we are provided each and every day by our Father, who straps us to his chest for protection yet lets us look outward on his earth to enjoy the view. Our Father carries us through each day in this protected way so that, although we are well-positioned to see everything, we are also tucked tightly against his chest for his protection from the tumbles of life. In the same way as this precious baby was delighting in sharing time with his father, let us go forth and enjoy our days, knowing that our Father has us right where he wants us, safely next to him for the trip we call life.
