Stuck in the Mud

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. —Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)

Walking Mojo, our rescue dog, this past weekend, he kept stepping in the mud that lined the middle of the alley due to all of the rain that we have been having over the past few weeks. Of course it was hard for him to miss it, but there was a path on the side that was grassy and free of mud. At one point I said to him, “Do you have to keep walking in the mud, Buddy?” This thought immediately came me: None of us need to walk in the mud. The glorious reality is that all of us as believers, when finding ourselves “trudging through the mud” of life, have Jesus to lead us to his grassy path where we will find peace and comfort to soften our way. We will be walking through the mud at times, but because of Jesus, we are now able to step right out of the muddy times of life and onto his grassy path where easier walking is found. No longer do we need to be stuck in the mud. Turn everything over to Jesus, and we will find ourselves able to navigate life’s muddy times on his grassy way, the better way.
